Human Resources Benchmarking Club

Overview

November 2007

This club is starting its fourth year. We focus upon what we define as Core Human Resources split between strategic, advisory/operational and administrative/transactional. The Core covers activities such as employee relations, pay and reward management, recruitment and selection etc. In addition to cost information, other metrics covered are:
  • Staffing: salary levels, qualifications, turnover and sickness
  • Recruitment: expenditure and appointment by different media, recruitment and selection turnaround times
  • Council age structure
  • Lost days by cause
  • Reasons for leaving.

The Club has an extensive scrapbook section with questions for instance about disabled employees, recruitment and sickness, employment agencies.

Members of this club can also make use of its human resources customer satisfaction survey. This starts with a set of standard questions, to which members can add questions of their own, plus their own introduction, explanation etc. The survey can then be emailed to any number of human resources service users, and (providing they have the requisite Excel and email software) their responses are automatically forwarded to us and the collated results in due course returned to the organisation. At the end of the year, we will circulate comparative scores.
