Adult Social Care - Older People

Overview

June 2007

This club covers the range of services provided to older people. The club provides four sets of analysis:

PSS Ex1 Analysis
By using the data already available in the PSS Ex1 we can provide a large number of comparisons quickly and without any workload for club members.

Externally Provided Residential Care
Here we use the methodology developed in the 2007 'Residential Placements' club to compare the distribution of costs paid for externally provided Residential Placements. The age profile for the client group is also examined to help authorities make their projections.

Local Authority Run Residential Homes
Here we use the methodology developed in the 2007 'Residential Homes' club to compare the local authority run homes. Comparisons are provided both on an authority basis, to explain the differences in unit cost between authorities and also one a homes basis. As with the 2007 'Residential Homes' club a report will be produced for each individual residential home supplied by an authority.

Other Services to Older People
The questionnaire will ask a number of short questions about the services provided to older people relating both to financial and operational matters. The steering group (of local authority practitioners) will meet to decide what questions they feel would be interesting and useful to members. Areas likely to be covered are Commissioning & Social Work, Day Care, Direct Payments, Home Care, Individual Budgets and Performance Measures.
