Adult Social Care - Residential Placements

Overview

June 2007

Half of local authorities’ gross budget for adult social care - around £7.45 billion - is spent on residential care, and mainly on independent nursing and care homes.

This club focuses on the £6 billion that is spent on independent nursing and care homes, and more particularly on the gross unit costs which show very wide differences between authorities.

This club focuses on all client groups and compares the distribution of their placements for each type with all other club members in terms of gross cost bands, income, age and length of stay.

Please see example pages above. These are from last year’s exercise focusing on LD clients.
